The Netherlands is  is one of the combined cauties of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The biggest part of the country is located in the northwest of Europe, next to the North Sea. The capital city of The Netherlands is Amsterdam, yet the government is in The Hague.

The country is divided  in twelve provences, with its youngest provence Flovoland (as of 1 January 1986).

Maastricht and Nijmegen are the oldest cities, both founded by the Romans, more than two thousand years ago.

The Netherlands are known as a tolerant and liberal country. It is very mild in its policy against sodt-drugs. It was the first country in the world where the same sex marriage was legalized. The country is also known for its tolerance towards other religions and cultures.

Things to see are the big cities in “de Randstad” (the western part of the country), like Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague, Gouda and Utrecht. Also if you want to have some more peace and quiet, the eastern, southern and northern parts are nice to go.
